About Rev. Charles Tigard
Rev. Charles Tigard comes to us from San Francisco where he served as Associate Pastor of Metropolitan Community Church of San Francisco. Charles is an ordained minister with Metropolitan Community Churches.
He served on the denominational staff of Metropolitan Community Churches for 6 years as Assistant to the Board of Elders and Vice Moderator of MCC Rev. Elder Don Eastman. As Assistant Director of Congregational Development he was responsible for denominational relationships with clergy and development of training programs for MCC clergy students. In August 2005 Charles accepted the position of Associate Pastor at MCC San Francisco.
Charles has studied at the Claremont School of Theology, Claremont, CA, the Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA, the Episcopal Theological School at Claremont, and the Pacific School of Religion.Berkeley, CA . He graduated with honors from the Master of Divinity program at Claremont School of Theology, Claremont, CA, receiving the William and Douglas Cook award for Religion and the Arts. He holds an undergraduate degree in psychology from Marlboro College, Marlboro, Vermont.
From 2003-2004 Charles served as ministerial intern at Mt. Hollywood Congregational Church, UCC in Los Angeles, CA. Mt Hollywood is a historic LA congregation, having recently celebrated its centennial year in ministry. Mt Hollywood UCC is known as a bold social justice and pacifist witness.
Charles has a passion for GLBT activism and equipping lay leadership in the life of spiritual community. He is committed to life long learning as a progressive Christian leader. A native Californian, Charles brings a wealth of experience and passion to the staff and community of MCCSF. |
